While the official requirement is approx. €45/day, for a 15-day trip from Karachi, we recommend a closing balance of at least PKR 1.2M to 1.5M to show financial stability.
You will need a Letter of Invitation (Verpflichtungserklärung) from your host in Germany. This document often needs to be legalized by their local German “Ausländerbehörde” (Foreigners’ Office).
You can apply up to 6 months before your trip. Given the high demand for appointments in Pakistan, we suggest starting the process at least 2 to 3 months in advance.
Most short-stay applicants only provide biometrics at VFS. However, the Embassy or Consulate reserves the right to call you for a personal interview if they require further clarification on your intent.
