🛈 About Malaysia
Malaysia is rapidly emerging as a premier global education hub, offering a unique combination of high-quality academic programs, cultural diversity, and affordability. It is particularly famous for hosting international branch campuses of top UK and Australian universities (such as Monash, Nottingham, and Heriot-Watt), allowing students to earn a prestigious Western degree at a fraction of the cost.
Located in Southeast Asia, Malaysia is known for its booming tech and business sectors, stunning landscapes, and a vibrant, multicultural society that makes international students feel instantly at home.
💰 Cost of Living
Malaysia is highly regarded for its low cost of living while providing a modern, high standard of life. On average, a student needs RM 1,500 to RM 2,500 per month (approximately $350 to $600 USD) to cover all expenses.
Accommodation (On-campus/Shared): RM 500 – RM 1,000 per month.
Food & Groceries: RM 600 – RM 900 per month.
Transport & Utilities: RM 150 – RM 300 per month (excellent public rail systems like MRT/LRT).
🌎 Climate & Language of Malaysia
Malaysia features a classic tropical rainforest climate. It is warm, humid, and sunny year-round, with temperatures generally ranging from 27°C to 32°C. The country experiences annual monsoon seasons that bring heavy, refreshing rainfall, keeping the environment lush and green.
The official language is Bahasa Malaysia (Malay). However, English is widely spoken and serves as the primary language of instruction in private universities and international branch campuses. You can comfortably navigate daily life, shopping, and studies entirely in English, though learning a few Malay phrases is always appreciated by the locals.

💼 Post-Study Work Opportunities
The rules for working while studying in Malaysia are strict but manageable.
Part-Time Work: International students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week, but only during semester breaks or public holidays that last more than 7 days.
Approved Sectors: Work is restricted to specific sectors, such as restaurants, mini markets, and hotels.
